Profile of Terry Ardener and Renedra Limited
I have been in the mould making business for 42 years, I began working with Matchbox Toys in Tottenham when I was 16, making moulds for die cast model cars.
I moved to Peterborough when Matchbox opened a plant manufacturing their plastic aircraft kits in 1975.
10 years later in 1985 I started my own Toolmaking business in Wisbech and one of my first customers was Games Workshop who were in their early stages of Plastic miniatures. In 1998 GW bought out my business and I continued working for them until I took retirement in February 2007.
Among the staff working at Renedra are two of my sons Paul and Peter, between them they have 16 years and 10 years respectively working in Plastic miniature and kit mould-making. Paul has worked in both conventional Toolmaking and state of the art CAD/CAM (Delcam & Freeform), whilst Peter is our main guy on the pantograph, along with my twin brother Tony who is also a fully skilled toolmaker.
Also in the team are Alan & Craig two ex-GW guys, Alan is a top machinist/toolmaker and Craig who is our CAD draughtsman and a good freeform guy.
For 2009 our latest recruits are top pantographer, GW veteran Steve Ball and toolmaker Lee Johnson - who also used to be a Games Workshop employee.
